More than 450 ranchers are now enrolled in the Sage Grouse Initiative. The NRCS has invested more than $100 million, and leveraged nearly $60 million in partner matches since SGI's startup in 2010.

Funding is available from many sources to assist ranchers across the West carry out practices designed to benefit both sage grouse and rangelands. Various Farm Bill conservation programs provide the majority of funding.
For an overview of the main ways the Farm Bill offers funding to improve and conserve sage grouse habitat, take a closer look at the main financial assistance programs:
Cost Share: Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) (note: WHIP includes Working Lands for WIldlife)
Easements: Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP), Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP), and the Grasslands Reserve Program (GRP).
